Marsascala

This town on the south-eastern coast of Malta has become the Bugibba of the south. The difference is that Marsascala is much older, has retained its charm and its identity as a fishing community. Which also explains why there are some fine fish restaurants dotted around the town.

Unlike other resorts, however, there is only one hotel in town yet plenty of holiday apartments and villas to rent for short stays. Marsascala has, for a long time, been a favourite with expatriates wanting to buy property in Malta, perhaps because the pace of life here is somewhat slower than elsewhere on the islands.

That is not to say that Marsascala is a backwater, far from it. The town is well entrenched in the 21st Century and offers all the amenities and services one has come to expect of an upbeat tourist resort with scores of fine restaurants, bars and other watering holes that together make Marsascala one of the finest locations in Malta for true relaxation.
