Religious Holidays

As a holiday destination Malta is certainly multi-faceted. People come to Malta from all over Europe and beyond for a number of different reasons. Sun-seeking holidaymakers are the obvious, largest summer group.

Malta’s mild climate, sunny nine months of the year, draws crowds of holidaymakers from a cold and sometimes  frozen rest of Europe during the autumn and  winter months.

Malta’s clean-air, clean-water, incomparable unpolluted spring months draw a large number of visitors. Events also draw large crowds. Recent top-line concerts, including MTV Specials featuring internationally famous artistes, filmed in Malta , drew thousands.

Religion and the way the Maltese celebrate the feasts of their patron saints is one more crowd puller. Every village in Malta has its own patron saint.  Most have two. Over 80 parishes in Malta celebrate the feast of their Saint throughout the year. These feasts are colourful, very traditional in their external manifestations and unique for a non- Maltese visitor to experience. These religious celebrations cannot be compared to any other anywhere in the world because  the pervasive characteristics are definitely all–Maltese.

This video is dedicated to Malta’s Religious holidays. This is just a small sample of what Malta offers. To see the rest-- just come over.
